After a six year hiatus, the Ridge Racer series makes a return to home consoles with Ridge Racer Unbounded (not counting all the handheld releases and spin-offs released during that time), but the newest entry isn’t quite what you’d expect. Series race queen Reiko Nagase is strangely absent from the Bugbear Entertainment (FlatOut creator) developed racing title and the familar flair and allure of Ridge Racer games gone by are all but gone.
In its place is a re-invention on the traditional Ridge Racer drifting formula with the addition of adrenaline-fueled destructive mayhem.
