It has been announced that despite almost 2 million players, the Lego Universe MMO will be shutting down for good on January 31, 2012. The end of imagination, as some users are dubbing, is the result of the company being unable to make enough money from their “target group”.
For those wishing to take part in the game before it disappears for good, you can still sign up for the Free to Play aspects. Users who have subscribers up until, and beyond December 31, 2011 will also be given access to the full game for free in the final month of its life. Plus they will be given a refund on their remaining subscription.

Sony Online Entertainment have announced a new free-to-play model for their popular comic massively multiplayer online (MMO) game DC Universe Online. 42 million hours of gameplay has been logged so far since the game launched earlier in the year making it a super feat in itself.
From late October, players will be able to download and play DC Universe Online for free on PlayStation 3 and PC. As the new model is introduced, three different access levels will be incorporated in to the game: Free, Premium and Legendary. View the full article »

NC Soft and Paragon Studios have announced new changes to come to City of Heroes. The world’s top comic book MMO game will be renamed to City of Heroes Freedom, with plans to offer more content to more players in a way that hasn’t been done previously in the MMO.
“Freedom is about getting more content into the hands of our players, whether they are subscribing or playing for free”, said Brian Clayton, Executive Producer at Paragon Studios. “To do this, we’ve looked at City of Heroes from the ground up and focused on three ways to enhance the experience by giving our players more choices, greater rewards and the best content we’ve ever produced. And for the first time ever, players can choose to enjoy more than seven years of content for free.”
Square Enix have dropped the curtain on the All-Star line-up of titles for this year’s E3 Games Expo. The publisher will be revealing some highly anticipated titles at the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) held at Los Angeles Convention Center from June 7th to June 9th, 2011.
Funcom‘s MMO (massively multiplayer online) game Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures will get a digital relaunch this coming Summer.
