When the first details of DmC: Devil May Cry emerged, controversy ensued. Ninja Theory, the newly appointed developer to the long-running Capcom series were dealt angry backlash from dedicated fans who felt their beloved Dante had been bastardized. Casting aside the smooth, ivory-haired poster boy of demon-hunting in favour of a reckless “emo” sporting Goth hair who bears no resemblance to the protagonist of the same name was always going to be a hard sell, but Ninja Theory continue on, steady and true to their original design. Capcom have come out with what fans have been waiting for: a release date for DmC Devil May Cry. The next installment in the highly successful franchise is in the works by critically acclaimed Cambridge based developer Ninja Theory (Heavenly Sword, Odyssey: Journey to the West), working closely with Capcom to deliver a tale of Dante’s early days. Despite past assurances that it was not to be, Capcom have finally confirmed that we will in fact be seeing the fabled Devil May Cry HD Collection. As per previous speculation, the Collection with contain all three original PS2 games; Devil May Cry, Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, in shiny HD glory. It is likely that these games will be the re-released special additions with bonus content such as Bloody Palace mode, which sees you fighting up to 9,999 floors of harder and harder enemies (Horde mode, eat your heart out).
Some launch details and screen shots have been released, as well as what may be the official box art.

Can you believe it? It’s been 10 years since Devil May Cry‘s Dante first burst onto the gaming scene in his leather-clad gear, carving his mark in video game history as one of Capcom’s most well known and well loved characters.
