Sony Announces New Official Wireless Stereo Headset
Sony have released a new option for gamers wanting to experience gaming on a new level with their new Official Wireless Stereo Headset.
An alternative to the Sony Bluetooth Wireless Headset, the Wireless Stereo Headset will feature 7.1 virtual suuround sound for crystal clear audio enjoyment.
Sony titles such as Gran Turismo and Killzone were designed to incorporate 7.1 surround so now you’ll be able to hear all the audio cues whether fending off attackers in a firefight or crossing the checkered flag in an intense race.
One factor lacking from the current Bluetooth Headset is comfort level. After a few hours of gaming, the Headset resting on the ear can become sore from the earhook. The Wireless Stereo Headset sits on top of the head providing less stress on your ear.
Volume contorls are precise with an easy to access microphone mute for uninterrupted gaming. Battery status, sound controls and on-screen headset status will keep you informed at all times.
Engage in voice chat with the high quality microphone for clear conversations. The mic can also be retracted so it doesn’t sit in front of your face when you want to listen to music or go solo gaming.
One drawback about the Wireless Stereo Headset is the lack of Bluetooth functionality. Instead, the headset is connected via a small wireless USB adapter which all PlayStation 3 Slim model owners know is a major drawback. With only two USB ports on the PlayStation 3, you’ll probably need a USB hub in order to accommodate all your gaming accessories and peripherals.
Still a nice additional to the PS3 accessory family and I am somewhat tempted. Sony will release more information on the new device as it draws closer to the release date. Be sure to check out the PlayStation Blog to keep up to date with the latest news.
