The Australian launch of the Wii U console is just around the corner, but rumour has it that Nintendo have yet to give up on the little console that could. At this stage the details are only a whisper but if true, we could be seeing the announcement of the ‘Wii Mini’ bundle this December.
According to news site Nintendo World Report, a leaked internal release schedule from an otherwise unnamed major retailer suggests a more compact version of the console is coming soon:
Introducing the Wii Mini! Coming Dec 7 2012!
WII MINI CONSOLE Compact Nintendo Wii Console Comes with Sensor Bar, Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus with Jacket.
As of yet no further details or hints have arisen from the depths of the internet, so it’s important to take these rumours with a grain of salt. On the one hand the last wii redesign, known as the “Wii Family Edition”, only occurred in 2011, but on the other hand continuous redesigns are not exactly out of character for the Nintendo; the colour-coordinating, rereleasing console kings.
The Wii Mini could be yet another redesign of the console’s appearance; a low-cost bundle to keep consumers interested over the holiday season; or it could very well be just a rumour. At least the potential release date is not far off, so we won’t have to wait long to find out. We’ll keep you updated on any further details.
