The Attack on Titan video game based on the highly successful anime may be coming to North America.
Released in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS back in December 2013, the game has sold remarkably well. Reports indicate sales figures of 93,000 copies in its first week before selling out completely at retail. Spike Chunsoft shipped out more copies but have been struggling to keep up with demand.
As of February 2014, Attack on Titan 3DS has sold more than 240,000 copies at retail, and that isn’t counting the number of purchases via the Nintendo eShop. For Japan alone and being a 3DS title only, these sales figures are quite astonishing to say the least.
Given the high success and how well received Attack on Titan has been in english speaking territories, a source at Spike Chunsoft has revealed to Siliconera that a North American release is already under consideration, providing they can find a publisher partner to help release it.
I’ve just finished watching the series (at least of what is available right now) and I can see the popularity behind it. Here’s hoping North America get a release and PAL territories aren’t too far off either.
