Get ready for what is one of the most glamorous beat-em up tournaments in fighting history. PDP will be the exclusive sponsor of the first ever National Mortal Kombat 9 Tournament.
The tournament will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada at Bally’s Hotel and Casino from May 14th until May 15th, 2011 with a guaranteed prize pool of $21,000. First place will be taking a $10,000 slice home with them, not bad for a day’s worth of gaming.
Format is double elimination with a Day 1 qualifier. Semi-finals will take place on Day 2 with the best two of each round squaring off for probably the biggest paycheck of a lifetime including bragging rights as “The Mortal Kombat 9 National Champion” of 2011.
If you’re not into the fighting scene, you can still have a relaxing weekend at Bally’s Hotel and Casino with discount rooms on offer. Gambling, fighting, eating, sleeping … what’s isn’t there to love about this upcoming weekend?
PDP designed the Official Fight Sticks for Mortal Kombat 9 as seen here in the Mortal Kombat 9 Tournament Edition package.
Sticks will be available for use free of charge on the day but I highly recommend getting some practice in if you plan on participating with so much prize money at stake.
I really hope there is a huge turnout for this as I would love to see PDP continue this into an annual event. Beat-em ups have seen a resurgence of interest of late and I applaud PDP for sponsoring such a huge event.

Times like these I wish I had disposable income to just jet set over to the United States just for a chance to take in all the glitz! Oh well
