While we here at Esperino enjoy a good sepia-toned shooter as much as the next person, there are times when you need something a bit different. Whether you’re gearing up for some fast paced and addictive gameplay, or eager to treat your eyes to the gaming equivalent of a sunset, the upcoming Aussie game Orbitor is sure to please.
Developed by Canberra studio Evil Aliens, and set to be published Nnooo (the fine folks behind escapeVektor and Spirit Hunters) Orbitor is a beautifully shiny space adventure now coming to a console near you. This marks Nnooo’s second venture into publishing, having last month revealed they will be assisting 3 Sprockets in bringing their highly successful 3D strategy game Cubemen 2 to the Wii U.
In terms of gameplay, this stunning little game puts you in control of the aptly named ‘Orbitor’, a space probe on a mission to stop its own creator. As you move through various nebulae and space systems, Orbitor must lock onto the objects and make use of their gravitational to loop around and destroy them, before collecting the energy life they release and propelling on to the next target.
Having recently been shown at PAX Prime, Orbitor has already been receiving praise as it earned its way onto the Warp Zoned PAXpocalypse List of The Best of PAX Prime 2013. The game is expected to be released on console in the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand in 2014, and while the specific consoles to which it will venture have yet to be announced, we have our money on the PSP Vita and/or the Wii U.
For more information why not float around the Nnooo and Evil Alien spaces. Currently Orbitor is also up on Steam Greenlight awaiting your love, and you can even sign up for the beta. Other than that, feast your eyes on the screenshots and trailer below, and be sure to keep an eye on the sky for this little beauty in the future.
