Capcom have today confirmed that 12 new characters for Street Fighter X Tekken will be available for you to add to your console collection. The line-up was originally scheduled for later this year, following the launch of the title on PS Vita, but it appears that these classic characters were itching to get in on the action. Then if that was not enough good news for you, they have also announced a special deal for anyone who preorders the upcoming PS Vita version.

The 12 fresh new faces getting in to the ring are sure to please;

  • In the red corner, fighting for Tekken we have:  Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy and Sakura
  • Then in the blue corner, for the honour of Street Fighter we have: Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack-X, Lars Alexandersson, Lei Wulong

These new combatants will be available in a new DLC pack priced at $19.99 on the PSN, or 1600 MP on XBLA. The addition of the 12 brings the grand total up to 50 playable characters, but that’s not all!

For the fans who have patiently been waiting for the game’s PS Vita release later this year, the first run of retail copies will include to free DLC packs with extra content that they can use on both the PS Vita and PS3. The first code pack gives you access to the extra 12 characters mentioned today, while the second gives you alternate costumes for all the core 38 characters. But wait, there’s more! Any gamer who preorders (through certain retailers) the upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken on the PS Vita will also get free alternate costumes for the 12 new characters. This free costume pack, can also be shared between the PS Vita and PS3. That’s pretty damn cool.

The new 12 character DLC pack for Street Fighter X Tekken on PS3 and 360 will be available July 31. At this stage we have yet to get details on the game’s Australian release on the PSP, but North America will be seeing some hand-held fighting this Fall (Aus Spring).
