The Lollipop Chainsaw Press Kit is one of the largest press kits made from recent memory. Specially designed for the media ahead of the Suda51 and Kadokawa Games produced hack-n-slash title, you’d be forgiven for thinking the large presentation box might very well house an actual chainsaw but alas, it doesn’t.
Inside you’ll find a selection of Lollipop Chainsaw branded paraphernalia, some of which has been inspired from lead heroin Juliet Starling. Keeping with the cheerleading theme is a bright red Lollipop Chainsaw branded bullhorn. There isn’t any handle on the bullhorn but the mouthpiece does have a star design at the end which I found was a nice touch.
A Lollipop Chainsaw Press Kit wouldn’t be quite complete without a lollipop. Heart-shaped, this over-sized piece of candy bears the Lollipop Chainsaw symbol, mounted on a large piece of wood. Fairly colourful and strangely appropriate given the zombie-slaying title.
Rounding out the cheerleading accessories are a pair of blood-stained Lollipop Chainsaw branded pompoms and a glitter filled twril stick with metallic streamers. The pompoms are metallic good in colour and you wouldn’t notice the blood-stains at first unless you had a closer second look. Obviously it isn’t blood, just splattered paint for that genuine bloody look.
Juliet Starling’s boyfriend, the bodiless Nick gets a few special pieces dedicated to him with a set of Nick head keyrings. This Lollipop Chainsaw Press Kit came with six of the same keyring however I have seen the numbers vary so you may find more, or less depending on where you source your press kit from.
For me, one of the most interesting pieces is the Nick head USB stick. Branded with the Lollipop Chainsaw logo, a small plastic Nick head is suspended in red coloured solution at the end. This could have made a really nice pre-order bonus which is kind of a shame that it wasn’t made available to the public.
To show your love of Lollipop Chainsaw, you’ll also find a Lollipop Chainsaw t-shirt. Black in colour with the skull and heart Lollipop Chainsaw design, it’s a nice collectible t-shirt if you aren’t afraid to open it for a closer look. This particular t-shirt is a size L, however the kits I’ve seen have all had varying sizes.
Packed inside a small plastic bag are two Lollipop Chainsaw pieces, a Lollipop Chainsaw magnet and a transferrable temporary tattoo.
Finally, the last pieces of the press kit includes a large Lollipop Chainsaw promotional poster and an A4-sized art card featuring the familiar promo shot. This particular art card has been signed by however not all Lollipop Chainsaw Press Kits will have a signed art card so don’t be too surprised if it differs from what you see here. Also, some copies will include a retail copy of the game which this kit didn’t.
I’ve dabbled in plenty of press kits in the past, but the Lollipop Chainsaw Press Kit would be a highly recommended piece. There’s plenty of things included inside, not to mention the massive presentation box that houses it all. The most difficult aspect is getting someone to ship it to you and keeping it in good shape in transit.
