Limited Edition Life-Size Portal Device at EB Games

There is no need to test the popularity of the Portal series, with fans world-wide imagining what life would be like with a real portal gun. Well at last these dreams can, in part, become a reality as Australian retailer EB Games takes preorders for a 1:1 replica Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device.

The collectable is a replica of the Portal 2 gun wielded by co-op bot Atlas. The 1:1 scale model sits at 8.5 inches wide and 30 inches long (or longer with the claws extended) and features  blue and purple lights, sound effects and a posable claw. The gun is a very limited-edition piece, with only 5000 to be made in total; Australian retailer EB Games will only have a portion of this available as other retailers world-wide will also be getting a small slice.

The Atlas Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device include:

  • Blue racing stripes as per the in-game model
  • Ability to switch between blue, violet or no LED lights
  • Posable, extendable claws
  • Unique sound effects when ‘firing’ each portal type

Although the gun itself is weighted to avoid rolling on flat surfaces, there is also an Aperture-approved display stand available separately for the hefty price of $88. The Aperture Science Handheld Portal Device is available for preorder now through EB Games for $198, with the release date still to be confirmed. Eager fans should put an order down asap as stocks are extremely limited, presumably because GLaDOS wants them gone.
