Hollywood Movie Reboot for Tomb Raider’s Lara Croft

Seems like Hollywood movies are all the rage at the moment with Tomb Raider being the latest video game franchise to venture onto the big screen (again).

The movie rights for Tomb Raider was acquired by producer Graham King (Blood Diamond, The Departed) and GK Films with  plans firmly set for a 2013 release.

Like with Crystal Dynamic‘s take on the upcoming Tomb Raider game, the movie will be rebooting the franchise and will have an origins approach telling the tale of Lara Croft and how she became the skimmy tank top wearing, short-short lovin’ archaelogical adventurer we all love.

Tomb Raider Lara Croft
Can a new movie revive the once booming Tomb Raider franchise?

The Tomb Raider franchise hasn’t faired well in the video game sector in the last few years but the recently released Tomb Raider title – Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light has seen renewed interest.

It is unlikely that Angelina Jolie will reprise her role given the story is based on an origin’s tale, that is unless Angelina can time travel and shave a few years off.

The previous Tomb Raider movies have grossed well in the past so it will probably prove to be a wise investment by Graham King but only time will tell.

No news yet on who will be the new Miss Lara Croft. Who is your hot pick to play the leading lady?
