Does the Limited Edition Call of Duty: Ghosts Bundle Hint at the Xbox One Console Launch?

EB Games have just announced that they’re suping up their standard editions of Call of Duty: Ghosts, with a mission to bring Australian gamers a Limited Edition pack, without a higher price tag. Not only is this bundle of extras a bonus for Aussie gamers, it also may contain within it a hint about the release date for the Xbox One console

The Call of Duty: Ghosts Limited Edition is an EB Games exclusive which, for the same price as a standard edition, comes stocked with:

  • Multiplayer character DLC: Play as the iconic fan-favourite Simon “Ghost” Riley
  • Collectible Steelbook
  • Double XP for Launch weekend: Get the jump on your friends!
  • Free Fall dynamic bonus map: More awesome Ghosts multiplayer action
  • Bonus digital patch pack
  • Bonus Personalisation Pack for use in Call of Duty: Black Ops II

This super-sized not-so-standard pack will be available on the Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One, which raises an interesting question… The launch weekend on which the double XP will be available is from November 9th – November 12th, yet this bonus is available for preorder on the not-yet-released Xbox One. So does this mean the Xbox One will be released prior to this ‘launch weekend’? Rumour has it that the console will be available November 8th, one day before the launch weekend. The proximity of the launch weekend to the rumoured release does add fuel to the fire, and releasing the console in time to be bundled with Call of Duty would certainly be a boost for the system’s popularity. That being said, the XP bundle is also available for the Playstation 4, for which the official launch date of November 29th is well after the initial weekend. Either way, we’re intrigued and excited.

UPDATE: Kotaku have weighed in with new information from an undisclosed source ‘close to Microsoft’, stating that the Xbox One will be launching in November but not in time for the release Call of Duty: Ghosts. At this stage there’s no official word from Microsoft though, so don’t dim that glimmer of hope yet…

EB Games has also confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts will be available for some gaming action at the 2013 EB Expo. So if you’re heading to Sydney between October 4-6 you can get in early for a first look (and play) of the hotly anticipated title.

To find out more about the Call of Duty: Ghosts Limited Edition pack, head on over to the EB Games website; but if you’re looking to find out more about the Xbox Launch date, unfortunately only time will tell.

In the mean time, what do you think of the date proximity between the rumoured Xbox One launch and the XP weekend? Is it just a coincidence, or yet another clue that adds weight to the existing theories?
