Being both the belle of the ball, and the greatest source of controversy at this year’s E3 Expo, it’s not shocking that the Wii U has even more hardware surprises in store. Nintendo’s president Satoru Iwata has revealed during a Q & A session with analysts at E3, that the Wii U will not function as a DVD or Blu-ray player.

President Iwata was pressed by analysts,

“Are you planning on making the Wii U more of a home entertainment console by including Blu-ray or DVD drives, or is it going to be more like the Wii, and just be more of a pure gaming console?”

After recovering from being split into 4, losing his arms and legs and turning into yarn, Kirby has once again crossed paths with yet another sinister force and has ended up being split into 10. While probably fun, Kirby, with the power of 10, sets off on a journey to return to his original self.

Following off Mario Kart, Nintendo announced more details on the upcoming flight simulation of Fox McCloud in the StarFox 64 remake on Nintendo 3DS.

“In 1993, Nintendo created a video game that many said made them feel like they were flying in 3D. Now, StarFox is back, and with Nintendo 3DS the 3D is entirely real.” said Reggie Fils-Aimes on the announcement.

As expected at E3 2011, Nintendo revealed more details on the latest incarnation of Mario Kart for the Nintendo 3DS.

Reggie Fils-Aime, President and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo America took to the stage announcing five key games to come out for the Nintendo 3DS.

“First off the line is Mario Kart. It’s a game you’ve enjoyed for years, but now its a tricked out version you haven’t driven before.” said Reggie Fils-Aime.

Shigeru Miyamoto announced today at the E3 2011 Nintendo Press Conference a free title for Nintendo DSi owners. Available in September, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure will be completely free for console owners as a downloadable title.

Originally released back in 2004 on the Nintendo GameCube, The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure is still regarded as one of the best titles to come out during its era.

Nintendo have formally announced their new console which will debut in 2012, the Wii U. The Wii U brings a whole new way to play with its innovative controller with a combination of a 6.2 inch touchscreen display and traditional button controls.

The Wii U controller can be used a separate playing screen or part of the game on the TV. It is backwards compatible with Wii, Wii Remotes and Wii peripherals, such as the Wii Balance Board and the Classic Controller Pro.
