BioShock First Print Edition Unboxing

BioShock received various release editions back in 2008. When the title was ported over to the PlayStation 3, 2K Games produced what can be considered a ‘first print’ edition for PAL territories (Australia and Europe) that came with something a little bit extra.

Essentially the same as a standard edition with game disc and manual, the first print was packaged with a holographic foil-textured cardboard slip. The o-ring has the same artwork as the the cover slip with an embossed ‘BioShock’ title and a shiny finish. Big Daddy’s head lights really ‘pop’ out with the rainbow foil-texture, bringing the oversized mechanical monster to life. Be aware that the cardboard is semi-fragile and will wear down on the corners easily if handled poorly.

Hard to find in good shape but not overly rare by any means. There are better collector’s editions of BioShock out there but this first print run is a little special in its own right and has a special place in my collection. If you have the money to spare, obtain one for yourself if simply just to see the foil artwork in person.
