It’s been a series of leakages with images for Assassin’s Creed 3 making its way onto the internet. If the rumours are true, Assassin’s Creed 3 could be set in the American Revolution and star an all new crafty assassin to take up the hooded mantle.

According to Kotaku, a Best Buy worker sent in a promotional artwork for Assassin’s Creed III. The hooded assassin strikes a familiar pose but this time the locale appears different from the Assassin’s Creed norm.

With a more American Revolution flair, the original Continental flag can be seen blowing in the backdrop. Weaponry has also shifted to the era with the main protagonist wielding a short axe (tomahawk?), pistol and a bow and arrow combo on his back. Even his military jacket has a more 18th century look to it:

If this wasn’t prove enough, GameInformer accidentally let the cat out of the bag earlier displaying an Assassin’s Creed III banner on their website. When the mistake was realised, the image was promptly removed but not before a NeoGAF user took a screen grab of the image:

The promotional artwork portrays the mystery assassin tapping George Washington on the shoulder from the famous Crossing of Delaware painting.

With the Assassin’s Creed Facebook page teasing a reveal all in the next couple of days, you might not have to wait too long to find out if all these leakage turn out to be authentic or not. The major reveal is supposedly set for March 5th 2012 but keep your eyes peeled for more sneaky images making their way online.
