All the Details on PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Sony have announced the final cast of characters for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale, the upcoming title that aims to beat down the barriers between gaming franchises. On top of that we have new videos, the official release date and all the details on the featured franchise stages and items.

Playstation All-Stars has been developed by SuperBot Entertainment, a studio formed by Sony with the purpose of creating this chaotic experience. Since it was first revealed back in May, the game has intrigued fans with its promised collision of iconic, cute characters and beloved, battle-hardened heroes. The final two characters announced for the lineup demonstrate this collision of styles, with the addition of the adorable mascot Toro Inoue and a fierce fighter Heihachi Mishima.

The official Playstation All-Stars line up includes (from left to right):

  • Kratos (God of War)

  • Big Daddy (BioShock)
  • Toro (Together Anywhere! Also known as Sony’s Mascot in Japan)

In addition to the character reveal, Sony have released two introductory videos to herald in the new challenges and get you into the All-Stars fighting spirit.

In addition to the cross-over of characters, you have no doubt noticed some of the other game references that have popped up. Thus far some elements from other Sony franchises include the in-game items to be used for your advantage, including the Shield (Wipeout); Hedgehog Grenade (Resistance); Nanotech (Ratchet & Clank); RPG-7 (Uncharted); as well as the Spear of Destiny and Boots of Hermies (God of War). A number of the game stages have also been confirmed which interestingly combining aspects from two different franchises, namely:

  • Dojo, from PaRappa the Rapper and Killzone
  • Hades, combining God of War and Patapon
  • Metropolis, with elements of God of War and Ratchet & Clank
  • Sandover Village, from Jack & Daxter and Hot Shots Golf
  • Dreamscape, combining LittleBigPlant and Buzz!


PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale
 will be coming to both the PS3 and PSVita, with a staggered release across the world. The fight will be breaking out in North America first on October 23, then Europe on the 24th, Australia and New Zealand on the 25th, then finally in the UK and Ireland on the 26th.
