3DS Metal Gear Bundle and Accessories

It’s time to pull out the war paint and throw on the camo, because news has arrived of a Nintendo 3DS console bundle for Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D; plus just the accessories you’ll need when you’re taking your new 3DS out trekking in the jungle.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is a new and improved revision of the the epic PS2 title, first released in 2004. The game features shiny updated graphics that take advantage of the 3DS’s capabilities, as well as a number of new features such as the ability to walk while crouching (trust me this is awesome), photo camouflage, first-person and over-the-shoulder camera modes and gyroscopic suspension bridges.

Kojima Productions have announced on twitter that there will be Nintendo 3DS hardware bundle for Snake Eater 3D. Like the special edition Legend of Zelda console, this bundle is likely to be released well after the launch of Snake Eater 3D. However if you have yet to get yourself a 3DS, this is certainly a console to keep an eye out for (or perhaps for a stylish friend or partner; the design will certainly win over the more fashion-forward gamers).

First look at the Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D Console

Hideo Kojima has also posted a photo of the console up close on twitter. Nice. Note that this is only the initial design; we’re hoping it stays, but it is still early days. The next news update on the bundle is set for January 20, 2012 so we’ll update you then on whether this is the final version, plus details on the set price, release date and hopefully whether it will see an international release.

For those with 3DS in-hand, ready for the missions of Metal Gear, keep your eyes peeled for the special accessory bundle. This is utility bundle contains some good looking console decals, an extendable stylus with wrist-strap and carry-pouch. It should be hitting Japan for the March release, so hopefully they will reach us in time for the game’s release in Australia next year (or keep an eye online if you’re eager).

Less elegant than the special edition, but who doesn't look good in camo?

An unfortunate downside of the the mission-decals is that the exterior console cover will not fit when you have the circle pad attachment. Snake Eater 3D is one of the few games thus far that will be compatible with the attachment and although it is not essential to the gameplay it is an unusual point to overlook.
